Procrastination does not help really!

How would you like if after waking up from bed in the morning you think of the works which you left undone yesterday and now have to be attended to ? Horrible, isn’t it ? Because not only that you would need to complete those pending works but also the works for the day unless of course you choose to procrastinate today’s work for tomorrow!

Deferring a work for ‘Tomorrow’ may help us to sit back and relax today but really doesn’t help later because work gets accumulated and can become very difficult to handle later. On many occasions I indulged myself in leaving some of the day's work for the next day but later regretted for my stupid action.

I had received the Electricity Bill in time and waited for the last date of payment. On the penultimate day I thought I would go to the Electricity Office and settle the bill and then changed my mind. The next day it ran heavily with thunderstorm and the situation was so bad that I just couldn’t go out. Eventually I had to pay the fine for delayed payment.

I have experienced similar situations several times during the last few years due to my own stupidity.

It was a Thursday, a particular job had to be done urgently so that the same could be presented at the Board’s Meeting on next Monday, first time in the morning. I thought I would leave the work for Friday and so I did. On Friday, in addition to my normal work for the day, some additional work cropped up needing completion by the end of the day itself. When I cleared the day’s work I was too tired to attend to Thursday’s work. Whilst others were enjoying their week end, there was I all alone in the Office on Saturday to complete Thursday’s work. This taught me a good lesson. I have since changed my attitude and try my level best to complete my work for the day on the day itself and I feel happy. I can go to bed without any tension and wake up next morning afresh.

I feel we should never leave any work for tomorrow. Anything can happen tomorrow, we may fall ill and unable to take up the work. Besides who knows if we don’t see ‘Tomorrow’?
